Executive Secretary of PROCINORTE discusses lessons learned in Technological Innovation in LAC

                                                                           Dr. Henríquez discusses lessons learned at the PCCMCA Meeting in El Salvador

 

April 26, 2011 - Dr. Priscila Henríquez, IICA's Specialist in the Management of Technological Innovation and PROCINORTE's Executive Secretary participated in the LVI Annual Meeting of the Central American Cooperative Program for the Improvement of Crops and Animals (PCCMCA).The meeting was held in El Salvador from 25-29 April 2011 and brought together agricultural researchers and policy-makers from Mexico, Central America and the Dominican Republic.

 

During the meeting Dr. Henríquez discussed lessons learned from several agricultural research projects carried out in LAC. She also highlighted the role of scientists and governments in supporting farmers and local innovators adopt and adapt technologies to improve productivity and contribute to protecting the environment. She explained how PROCINORTE is linking researchers from Canada, Mexico and the US in themes of tri-lateral interest, including genetic resources, plant and animal health, fruits and knowledge management.

 

The PCCMCA is the mechanism for dissemination of agricultural scientific knowledge in the Central American region with more than fifty years of existence.
