José Fernando De La Torre Sánchez, DVM, MSc & Ph. D.

José Fernando De La Torre Sánchez got his DVM and MSc. Degrees at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the Colorado State University in USA. From 1982 to date has worked at the National Forestry, Crops and Livestock Research Institute of Mexico (INIFAP), where he has been doing research on reproductive physiology in farm animals, in vitro production of mammalian embryos, gamete and embryo cryopreservation and lately on genetic resources conservation. He also has been teaching undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Guadalajara, since 2004. From 2012 to 2018, he led the National Genetic Resources Center of Mexico (CNRG), belonging to INIFAP and from August, 2018 to March, 2020, he was appointed as the Director General of INIFAP, returning back as CNRG’s Director, from March, 2020, to date. Since 2013, he has been representing Mexico in the Norgen task force of PROCINORTE, and in the period in which he was DG, he was president of the Board of Directors of PROCINORTE
